Spring is here in New York! I miss winter already. Here’s what I got up to this week.
I called into my favorite podcast ever Call Chelsea Peretti a few weeks ago and this week they aired my call! It wasn’t a great call (I blame my Airpods for the bad connection). The episode is here and I come in at a little after 31 minutes. Please give the full ep a listen though, Chelsea is my god.
I’ve been slowly watching Contrapoints’ new video about Twilight all week. I let out an involuntary “oh hell yeah” when I saw it. It’s three hours long and worth every second. Finally some scholarly discourse on the cuck tent!
Had a very rainy but delicious lunch at one of my favorite local spots Gertrude’s. Their latkes are perfect every time.
Speaking of latkes, EVGrieve reported that Veselka is going to reopen 24 hours! Nature is healing.
This weekend I had a karaoke crisis, after testing out the place I had booked for our wedding after party. It was horrible! They wanted us to pay $2000 for a karaoke room, and when we said that was too much they made us pour our drinks into plastic cups and stand in a special area for bad people. Luckily our friend Bryan knew a place across the street where we had a wonderful time. If you’re ever in K-town you owe it to yourself to go to Wow Karaoke.
Loved this Airmail article on Charles and Ray Eames, and the Institute their family is opening in California. Someday when I have my millions I want to stay a week at Sea Ranch and check this out.
“Dune” part two was fabulous. I loved Javier Bardem. I wish their was more Harkonnen stuff, the sequence on their planet was my favorite part. The world building! The style! The skin!
I got this email from my dad this week about doing your taxes. He is exactly right!
My sister told me about these lamps she saw at the MoMA design store, which are very beautiful, and I would absolutely buy if I didn’t already have too many lamps (including that same lamp in beautiful purple shade). I love a good Liberty print, and I think these lamps would be perfect for adding a cozy element to a more modern space.
I bought these coconut Pocky at the little Japanese market on Spring St. Liam correctly pointed out that they taste exactly like Samoas, in a different format. Heavenly!!
I bought myself a Shark FlexStyle aka Dyson Airwrap dupe after a wedding hair and makeup trial gone wrong. They made my hair look so bridesmaid-y. It hurt to move my head. I won’t share a picture because I don’t want you to have that memory of me. So now I’m doing my own hair and makeup and I have to speed-run learning how to do my hair. Why didn’t I learn how in middle school like everyone else?
Liam and I checked out Gotham in the East Village this week. New York is in such a weird space with weed right now. It’s either bougie, “design-minded” dispensaries that also sell jewelry and pillows, or a bodega called “ZaZa City.” Personally I’ll always pick the fancy one because I can’t help myself, and who knows if the stuff at ZaZa is even real? Anyway, they sell my face wash there. I don’t know how to feel.
An Uber driver I rode with had the sweetest little knick knack tableau in the passenger’s seat area. I will be looking into replicating this in my own car.
I finished a Tuesday crossword in under 6 minutes. It was a rush.
Came into my room this week to find my two cats spooning each other. Enjoy!
Ty for reading!! See you next week.
